The Tourist Reception Centre (CAT) is a new multifunctional area for assisting visitors, in addition to the ones already existing in Catalonia. Its aim is to welcome tourists, guide them and inform them about Catalonia through presenting its most representative identity and cultural references. A CAT is thus a tourist facility that provides tourist information and helps promote and market tourist products and services. 

The CAT in Tortosa focuses on the city of Tortosa’s role in the Middle Ages as a site for peaceful coexistence between the Islamic, Jewish and Christian cultures. It particularly focuses on the impact and influence that these cultures had on Tortosa, on the Ebro Lands and on Catalonia as a whole.
