Tortosa Cathedral and the permanent exhibition
The Cathedral is perhaps the building that best reflects the passing of time and how this has left its mark on the city. A visit to the cathedral is a must in order to really experience the heritage it represents. It houses the permanent exhibit of Santa Maria de Tortosa. This exhibition enables us to find out more about the city and understand the historical role of Tortosa and its Territory, thanks to the historical funds provided by the Tortosa Cathedral. [+ more]
The Royal Schools and the Renaissance Interpretation Centre
Founded by Charles V for the purpose of educating the Moors, they are some of the best examples of renaissance civil architecture in Catalonia. The patio, which is considered unique in the country, includes the busts of the kings of the Aragon Crown, from Ramon Berenguer IV to Philip IV. The Renaissance Interpretation Centre is located in the Church, which is a place that materializes the Renaissance epoch in an area of continuous activity that, in turn, manages and disseminates the heritage created during the years the Renaissance Festival has been held. Tourist Reception Centre (CAT)
The Tourist Reception Centre (CAT) is a new multifunctional area for assisting visitors, in addition to the ones already existing in Catalonia. Its aim is to welcome tourists, guide them and inform them about Catalonia through presenting its most representative identity and cultural references. A CAT is thus a tourist facility that provides tourist information and helps promote and market tourist products and services. [+ more]
Fortress walk
This route, which includes the strongholds, walls and fortifications of the city, is intended to help people discover one of the best tourist assets of Tortosa. The Suda castle is part of this route and is an impressive architectural testimony of the city of Andalusia, containing the only uncovered Arab cemetery existing in Catalonia and a State run hotel. Holy Week Interpretation Center
The Holy Week Interpretation Center, Centre d'Interpretació de la Setmana Santa, is located in St. Anthony Abbot's Church. This ancient temple was partly lost during the Spanish Civil War. In October 2011, the interior of the church was substantially rebuilt. Nowadays, the building houses the main elements of the famous Holy Week of Tortosa. It stands out the passos, religious floats with sculptures, named misteris, mysteries. Most of them were made by well-known sculptors such as Innocenci Soriano Montagut and Enric Monjo i Garriga.
