Description

The Delta del Ebro is the most extensive Catalan wetland and the most important aquatic habitat of the western Mediterranean, after the Camargue. The floristic catalogs indicate 515 species. The different salinity admits different ranges of fish (there is an annual fishing of 30 to 50 tons of eels and more than 5 angula). Invertebrates abound and insects, arachnids, crustaceans and herpetofauna are well represented. Among the mammals we find numbers, hedgehogs, weasels ... The avifauna has an international importance. The number of birds varies from 50,000 to 100,000 individuals, of around 300 species (60% of those existing in Europe).

It is recommended to visit to the Assud previously. Then, through Campredó and the Aldea (hermitages and medieval towers) we find Camarles and the Rice Interpretation Center. To La Ampolla the Bassa de les Olles and in Deltebre , La Marquesa, Riumar, the Ecomuseum and the EbreTerra. The boats for sailing are a good activity. From the Interpretation Center of the Barraques of Sant Jaume d'Enveja, it is linked to Els Muntells and the Trabucador, MónNatura, Poble Nou del Delta and Casa de Fusta. After the Pantena, Sant Carles de la Ràpita with the Museum of the Sea and panoramic of the Guardiola. Once the Museum of the Lands of the Ebro of Amposta is visited, by the Carrova and Vinallop, with the rice fields further inland, we are again in Tortosa.
