Description

The kayak route from Tortosa to Amposta offers a different way to discover the lower reaches of the River Ebro. Over approximately three hours, the route follows the river downstream from Tortosa to Amposta. Along the way, the urban landscape gradually gives way to riverside woodland, farmland and open spaces.


Deltaventur's activity follows a wide and peaceful stretch of the Ebro. In addition, the route reveals how the river and its surroundings change as it approaches the Ebro Delta. The journey ends in Amposta, with views of its riverfront and distinctive suspension bridge.



Kayak route from Tortosa to Amposta


The kayak route from Tortosa to Amposta starts in Tortosa and follows the River Ebro southwards. This way, the river itself becomes the thread connecting an experience that combines physical activity, scenery and discovery of the area.


The route takes approximately three hours. Deltaventur classifies it as medium difficulty, although it follows calm waters and requires moderate physical effort.



From Tortosa towards the Ebro Delta


As the kayak moves away from Tortosa, the landscape gradually changes. In this way, the urban surroundings give way to farmland, riverside vegetation and increasingly open spaces.


The river also becomes wider as it continues towards the Ebro Delta. Therefore, paddling along this stretch provides a close-up view of the relationship between the Ebro and the landscape that has developed around it.



Paddling through riverside woodland


Riverside woodland is one of the characteristic features of the landscape along much of the descent. The vegetation growing along the riverbanks creates a natural corridor beside the Ebro.


In addition, travelling by kayak provides a direct view of this environment from the water. The pace of the journey makes it easy to observe the riverscape while continuing downstream towards Amposta.

The route ends in Amposta, one of the main towns associated with the lower reaches of the Ebro. As you approach the town, the landscape becomes urban once again.


Finally, Amposta's riverfront and distinctive suspension bridge mark the end of a journey connecting the two cities by river.
