Mount Caro and Cambra Cave

Discovering Mount Caro and Cambra Cave is a great way to explore some of the most representative landscapes of Els Ports Natural Park. The experience combines 4x4 travel with short walks. This guided Gubiana route takes you through mountain landscapes, forests and distinctive geological formations over approximately five hours.

The route climbs to the summit of Mount Caro, at 1,441 metres above sea level. Afterwards, it continues along forest tracks across Mola de Catí towards Cambra Cave. In addition, the guide provides insights into the landscape, geology, vegetation and wildlife of this protected natural area.

As you climb Mount Caro, you can observe how the landscape and vegetation change with altitude. In addition, the route provides an opportunity to discover some of the geological features that have shaped the massif.

Climbing Mount Caro

One of the highlights of the route is Mount Caro. At 1,441 metres, it is the highest summit in the Els Ports massif and the Terres de l’Ebre region.

From its viewpoint, extensive views open up across the Ebro Valley and much of the surrounding region when weather conditions are favourable. Therefore, the ascent offers an excellent perspective on the relationship between Els Ports, the Ebro plain and the Mediterranean coast.

4x4 route across Mola de Catí

After Mount Caro, the route continues along forest tracks towards Mola de Catí. This extensive highland area is characterised by forests, limestone formations and mountain landscapes.

Travelling by 4x4 provides access to different areas in the heart of Els Ports. At the same time, it offers opportunities to observe the natural diversity of the park. Along the way, you can discover the characteristic vegetation of the area. In addition, you may also spot some of the wildlife that inhabits this mountain environment.

Discovering Cambra Cave

Cambra Cave is another distinctive feature of the experience. Located around Mola de Catí, the cave is notable for its large entrance. As a result, the visit provides an introduction to the underground landscape of Els Ports and the formations created in the limestone.

The necessary equipment for exploring the cave, including headlamps, is provided. This way, the route adds a different dimension to the outdoor experience. It also provides an opportunity to understand the importance of karst processes in shaping the massif.

Nature and landscapes of Els Ports Natural Park

During the approximately five-hour route, the experience combines landscapes, geology and nature observation. In addition, it includes a tasting of typical local products surrounded by nature.

Finally, the route takes you from the sweeping panoramas of Mount Caro to the forests of Mola de Catí. The experience is completed by the distinctive surroundings of Cambra Cave.
