Your new route to conquer Tortosa's monumental past



The Green City Walls Circuit is an eco-tourism route of approximately 4 kilometers suitable for everyone; ideal for walking or cycling, it allows you to discover the city’s monumental past in a sustainable way. This circular route can be started from two free parking areas—located at Fortí d’Orleans and Torreta de Remolins—where you will find electric bike charging stations, shaded areas, water fountains, and facilities designed for cyclists. The route links Tortosa’s vast fortified heritage, which has been designated an Asset of National Cultural Interest (BCIN). History, nature, and sustainable mobility combine in a unique walk along the city’s ancient defenses.

The route connecting the old defensive lines features information panels and various historical re-enactments, allowing you to understand how these structures worked and learn about some of the key figures involved.


Along the route, you will discover:

Fort Orleans is a strategic point along the route, offering unique panoramic views of Tortosa.

Fort Bonet is the perfect setting to explore 18th-century military engineering through its embrasures, passageways, and moat.

The Portal de Tarragona is a key location for understanding Tortosa's modern history and discovering the Victòria and Creus bastions.

The saint Joan's advanced works are a defensive complex dating from the 17th and 18th centuries.

The 14th-century wall features a rampant walk with excellent views. The route allows visitors to delve into Tortosa's historical legacy and explore the Jewish Quarter.

The Célio Tower is a medieval gem located in the Remolins neighborhood; this defensive tower guards one of the most historic areas of Tortosa.
