Salting factory (5th century)
You are looking at a small salting production complex which was in operation in the mid-5th century. Part of the facilities use the foundations of the old Roman temple, now dismantled. These facilities were used for salting fish and sometimes for making sauces such as garum.
Two child graves were found underneath the floor. Although banned by law, burying children inside domestic space was a socially accepted practice including within the walled city enclosure.
