Tortosa is located in the heart of the Terres de l’Ebre, which was declared a Biosphere Reserve by UNESCO in 2013 in recognition of its environmental quality. An old reconverted railway track

The Vall de Zafán is a track that can only be travelled by bike, on foot or on horseback, and which guarantees universal accessibility in terms of the users, without any restrictions for age of physical capacity.
The Via Verda starts at the old railway bridge in Tortosa and passes through the towns of Roquetes, Jesús, Aldover, Xerta and Benifallet, and then continues into the neighbouring county of Terra Alta towards Pinell de Brai, Prat de Comte, Bot, Horta de Sant Joan and Arnes. However, you can also go along the Via Verda in the opposite direction, heading south to reach L’Aldea and Deltebre, passing through rice paddies on your way down to the mouth of the River Ebro. Along the way, you will discover tunnels, old train stations, dining services, aqueducts and spectacular landscapes at the heart of the special and unique region, which is also great to enjoy as a couple.
